IRT(Infrared
Thermometer) is an instant magic, but when you
take it from outdoor to indoor (or from one room
to another room). You have to wait 30 minutes.
"30 minutes" is absolutely not "instant".
Most of IRT are plagued by such flaw.
By
Many-year-experience in high precision clinical
infrared thermometer (in EN12470, Error due to
10degC thermal shock must be less than 0.2degC!)
Finite Element Analysis of heat transfer; ZyTemp
had overcome this barrier.
A simple test , according to test method described
in in EN12470 Paragraph 7.6 Testing for
compliance of accuracy under changing environmental
conditions.,
clearly show that our ZyTemp TCT1 out perform
the competitor's model, which usually has a price
tag much higher than TCT1.
Error of M model can reach 1.6degC and require
30minutes to stabilize, while TCT1 is only 0.7degC
and stabilize in 7minutes.
Such a test can be easily
performed , even you don't have a standard &
stable blackbody:
Setup a very stable target . Hint: use a large milk
bottle (2 liter), fill in with water, wait 3 hours
to stabilize, that's a very stable target, with
thermal time constant about 100 minutes
Put the IRT outdoor (say 15degC), for 1 hours.
Bring IRTs back to indoor (say 25degC),
Measure the temperature of the Bottle by the IRT,
every minute.
You will found the reading drift within 30 minutes,
unless it's a ZyTemp Anti-Thermal Shock IRT: TCT102
or TCT103. |

ThermaTwin
General Description |

ThermaTwin
Overview
ThermaTwin is the ideal multi-purpose tool for
temperature measurements. It contains two reliable
sensors:
- An infrared sensor
made through a micro machining thermopile process.
- A Teflon-coated
stainless steel probe, which acts as a thermocouple.
This
dual function tool fulfills most temperature measurement
requirements. The non-contact IR sensor can be
used for instantaneous, hard-to-reach, and surface-oriented
measurements. The thermocoupler functions as the
dual of the former: accurately measuring subsurface
temperatures.
More
Sensors at Lower Cost
ThermaTwin implements an innovative technology,
placing integrating two sensors seamlessly into
one package. They share the same preamplifier,
precision analog to digital converter (ADC), CPU,
and LCD. Thus, making the cost of the thermometer
the same as if there were only one sensor.
One
can discover the emissivity of an object with
the ThermaTwin. Simple use the ThermaTwin's metal
rod to touch that object to get the (contact)
temperature, then use the non-contact sensor to
obtain that surface temperature. Later, adjust
the emissivity until the thermometer displays
the same temperature. Now you know the correct
emissivity of the object.
ThermaTwin
offers several different kinds of probes:
- Penetration: for
insertion into the interior of an object
- Needle: a sharp
penetrating probe that produces a fast response
- Air
- Liquid: similar
to penetration, but with a round tip
- Surface
The ThermaTwin is designed
for many types of applications:
- Hazard Analysis
and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
- Heater Ventilation
and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Science lab
- Classroom
- Kitchen
The Certificate of
Calibration for the ThermaTwin is available upon
request. |

Typical
Error of Reading |
 |
 |
 |
 |
|
A typical
error of reading is not a simaple figure, it's
a function of Tobj (object temperature) &
Tamb (ambient temperature)
Because Infrared Thermoemter is a "Relative"
measurement instrument. (It compare the Tobj against
Tamb)
So, the error has a minimum value when Tobj ~
Tamb,
that is when you measure something close to ambient
temperature.
For ZyTemp, this minimum value (dTabs) = 0.15°C
/ 0.27°F ,
usually, our competitor is larger than 0.2°C
/ 0.36°F
At
higher or lower temperature, there is a Gain Error
, usually 2%.
Q:
since the spec is "+/-2°C or 2%",
so IRT is most accurate at Tobj=0°C?
A: No, as described as above, IRT use a "Relative"
measurement, so IRT is most accurate at Tobj=Tamb,
In other word, when you pointing the IRT at a
"near room temp" object, it will be
very accurate.
Q: I can calibrate my IRT, by point it to a wall
(25°C)?
A: No, even the Gain run away, the IRT still will
show 25°C, you have to use a "Temperature
Different From Tamb",
for example 0°C or 50°C
0°C is the most available temperature "standard",
for ordinary user.
